Vital Muhini is on tour in South Kivu. The Second Vice-President of the National Assembly seems to find himself in another country. Another country indeed, because in his native Kalehe where he was elected national deputy, he does not prevent himself from holding meetings despite the measures taken by the central and provincial authorities to fight against the Coronavirus.

This Thursday, August 5, Vital Muhini did not fail to mobilize crowds in Kasheke, Chofi, at the territorial level, in Ihusi but also Muhongoza.

As in all the images that circulate, Vital Muhini is addressing thousands of inhabitants of Kalehe in a province that is experiencing an exponential rise in Covid-19 cases.

This is not the first mobilization for Vital Muhini. A few days ago, he brought together hundreds of members of the Havu community in Bukavu and with the involvement of the AFDC-A Political Party.

Whereas among the measures announced by the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Governor of South Kivu, is the prohibition of any gathering of more than 20 people in a public place.

Since few hours, the comments have been going in all directions. Many residents of South Kivu question the relevance of the measures taken by the authorities, if many officials are still the first to violate them.

In Bukavu, for example, elements of the Congolese National Police arrived into a party room to enforce the measure of authority. Yet in Kalehe, this AFDC-A framework (like the current Governor) does not seem to hesitate to bring the masses together. There, no one acted to bring the Vice-President of the National Assembly to reason.

Double standards, denounces Amza Rutega of the « Guardians of the Temple » Platform of the People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD).

Two weights, two measures all the more, recalls a civil society actor, that a few months ago, the security forces had bloodily repressed a demonstration organized by elected of the UNC (Union for the Congolese Nation) who wanted to speak in front of their base in Funu (Bukavu) around the management of the Province of South Kivu. Among the reasons given were the anti-Covid-19 measures by the central and provincial authorities.

« As the Governor believed himself to be above the law, he authorized the holding of a popular meeting in Kalehe this Thursday, August 05, 2021 where several elements of the order were deployed to secure the demonstration organized by his comrade of the AFDC-A Party The Honourable Vital Muhini while on the same day around 8 p.m. several other compatriots were humiliated at the La Manne hall in Bukavu While they were participating in a party of marriage. Can the Governor confirm that the measures taken by him are made only for small citizens without means of defense and that the executives of his AFDC-A are really exempt from this order? «  he wonders.

Draw the consequences of the mistakes of the past!

In South Kivu, many residents are still skeptical about the existence of the disease despite the devastation it causes in the community.

Their skepticism has, according to several analytes, been reinforced by the actions of the authorities and other political leaders who continue to gather hundreds, thousands of sympathizers or several people around them in violation of all the measures announced.

Many of these political leaders and leaders sometimes do not take care to respect barrier gestures or wear masks. This does not promote the work of health professionals involved in the fight against Covid-19.

Isn’t compliance with covid-19 measures a « must » for all residents? Led as leaders? How will the people of Kalehe and other territories be able to take precautions if their elected representatives are not afraid to bring them together en masse? How can they understand the ban on gatherings of more than 20 people?

For many, it’s time to lead by example. Paper measurements alone are no longer enough!
